Le Manoir du Stang, a former stately estate with an agricultural focus, welcomes you to its 40-hectare grounds, featuring centuries-old woods, peaceful ponds, French gardens, and a vast farmland. Built by the first Lord of Stang, Jehan Arthur, on the occasion of his marriage in 1427, this manor house, typical of southern Finistère, has changed hands only once in six centuries, in 1804.
Located in La Forêt-Fouesnant, between Quimper and Concarneau, the manor enjoys a prime location just 1 kilometer from the sea. It has since been owned by the Hubert family, whose mission is to maintain it, share this unique place, and pass on its history to future generations.

History
History and Heritage of the Manoir du Stang
Six centuries of history since 1427
The history of the Manoir du Stang begins in 1427, a period of artistic flourishing and prosperity in Brittany marked by the rise of openwork bell towers and pointed-arch porches. Le Stang, which means “valley” in the Fouesnant dialect of Breton, was not the residence of powerful lords, but the home of country gentlemen who went out to the fields with a sword at their side.
Since its construction in the early 15th century, the manor has evolved over time, expanded and transformed by successive generations, until it became the timeless place you will discover today.
Its activities were primarily agricultural, including the raising of dairy cows, pigs, horses, sheep, and goats, as well as milling, woodworking, and even fish farming in its ponds. This versatility made Le Stang a nearly self-sufficient estate, characteristic of the large Breton estates of the time.
Architecture typical of the Fouesnant region
The Manoir du Stang exemplifies the typical architecture of the Fouesnant region, a coastal area of Cornouaille rich in architectural heritage. Its construction reflects the architectural styles of 15th-century Brittany, featuring thick granite walls, openings framed with cut stone, and slate roofs that have withstood the test of time.
The building perfectly illustrates the dual function of Breton manors of that era: a stately home on one hand, with its refined salons and reception areas, and a working farm on the other, with its outbuildings, mill, and farm buildings.
The original architectural elements, carefully preserved by the Hubert family, bear witness to the craftsmanship of Breton builders. Every stone and every beam tells a story of the history of southern Finistère and its centuries-old traditions.

The Manoir can accommodate 30 to 100 guests indoors, with flexible reception spaces. Our 16 guest rooms can accommodate up to 36 guests on-site.
Exclusive use is available in March, April, May, June, September, and October.

The Hubert Family: Guardians of Our Heritage
For over 25 years, Alain Hubert has overseen the Manoir du Stang and its lodging and hospitality operations. Much more than just a hotel, Le Stang is a home where the Hubert family is committed to preserving its spirit, sharing its history, and offering guests a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
In December 2022, Jean-Baptiste Hubert joined the family venture by taking over the agricultural operations. His goal is to honor this heritage by expanding livestock farming and introducing guests to it in a fun and educational way, all while respecting the authenticity of the place.
A genuine home away from home—much more than just a hotel

The Manoir du Stang enjoys a prime location for exploring southern Finistère. Just 1 kilometer from the sea, you’ll have quick access to the magnificent beaches of the Fouesnant area: Cap Coz, Beg-Meil and its sheltered coves, or the coastal road at La Forêt-Fouesnant.
The Customs Officers’ Trail (GR34) runs along the coast and offers superb hikes overlooking the ocean. The Glénan Islands, nicknamed the “Breton Caribbean,” can be reached by boat from Beg-Meil for an unforgettable excursion.
For cultural attractions, Concarneau and its medieval walled town are just 15 minutes away, while Quimper and its Gothic cathedral are 20 minutes away. Pont-Aven, the city of painters, is also within easy reach for day trips.
