Walks and hikes
The Customs Officers’ Trail (or GR34) offers a magnificent hike from Minaouet to Mousterlin, with over 30 km of varied coastline to explore as you journey between land and sea.
Amid the coves, sandy beaches, cliffs, and marshes, you’ll encounter an incredibly rich variety of flora and fauna.
Along the way, you’ll also come across several landmarks, such as Fort Cabellou, the walled town, and a few beautiful mansions. Local oyster farmers will invite you to stop by a cove for a tasting session right by the sea.
In addition to the GR34, you can stroll along the Odet—described by Guillaume Apollinaire as “the most beautiful river in France”—explore the Penfoulic ponds, cruise around the Glénan archipelago, or take the chapel tour.
Canoeing
Paddle down the Odet River by canoe from Bénodet or Quimper with the tide (return shuttle service is included with your rental).
This river, dotted with rhododendrons, gray herons, and a magnificent castle, is well worth the trip. Winding through Porz Meillou, legend has it that the Vikings turned back, thinking the river led to no city.
In downtown Pont-Aven or in Port Manech, explore the Aven or the Belon, a river that flows into the sea. Water mills, castles, and a wide variety of birds will be your traveling companions.
