Keriolet Castle (8 km)
The castle has a fascinating history, having served as the residence of the Marquis de Chauveau, a French adventurer, and his wife, the Russian Princess Zenaïde Narischkine.
Its origins date back to the 13th century, and it was transformed into a true architectural gem of the 19th century.
Today, Keriolet Castle offers visitors the opportunity to explore its richly decorated interiors, including its various rooms—such as the salons, bedrooms, and libraries—which reflect the opulent lifestyle of the era. The surrounding gardens provide a peaceful setting for strolling and enjoying nature.
Lanniron Castle (15 km)
Lanniron Castle has a long history dating back to the 15th century. It served as the residence of the bishops of Quimper for centuries and thus features remarkable architecture that blends various styles, notably Gothic and Classical.
The château is surrounded by extensive 17th-century gardens, laid out in terraces facing the former residence of the bishops of Quimper on the banks of the Odet River. One of the very few examples of classical gardens from this period, they are considered among the most beautiful gardens in Brittany. They offer a peaceful and picturesque setting for strolling and enjoying nature, with a park rich in botanical diversity and centuries-old trees—a true haven of greenery and tranquility.
Oyster beds at Château de Belon (28 km)
Following the Gallo-Roman period, the manor served in the Middle Ages as a quarantine station for ships and a fortified site to guard the port of Bélon (evidenced by the presence of a battery with a cannon). The manor was later embellished in the 18th century with a white stone façade.
It was here in 1864 that Auguste de Solminihac, the creator of the Bélon oyster, founded the Château’s oyster farm. Specializing in both flat and cupped oysters, this family business has been in operation for five generations within the Solminihac family, pioneers of oyster farming and still home to the same family passionate about this natural and historic domain.
